Nothing here is video or a GIF. Each still is a frame captured from the shipped unit at build time; hovering mounts that unit in an iframe and plays it. No unit is ever scaled above 1:1 — a 160×600 blown up to fill a column is blurry and 1,200 pixels tall — so what you see is the real thing at its real size or smaller. Units are torn down when the pointer leaves and at most four run at once, which is what keeps 31 live ad units on one page from melting a laptop.
